Thailand is a land of different cultures and sensations. The traditions and the abundance in natural beauty contrast with the dynamics of a country that is undergoing development and industrialization make it a unique place. Noisy or serene, majestic or humble, Thailand will always be absolutely magical.
Thailand is located in the heart of Southeast Asia, between the Indian Ocean and the South China Sea. It has an area of 513,000 sq. km and its population is approximately 60 million. Most of its population is gathered in the fertile central plains and in Bangkok, the capital of Thailand.
The verdant North is mainly mountainside, as is the West, which borders with Burma. The Southeast, however, is a flat, dry and poor region.
A large part of eastern side rests along the River Mekong, bordering with Cambodia. In southern Thailand are some of the finest beaches and islands of the country. |
