Although Syria has the highest number of ancient Greek sites, Jordan also has its share of great Hellenistic monuments.
At the time of the Crusades, many older Hellenistic structures we converted into Arabian castles. Therefore, sites such as Antioch (Jerash), Petra, Gadara, Pella, Dion, Philadelphia (Amman), Ippos and others, are of great interest to visitors from Greece.
It is obvious why Jordan is such an interesting country, even though its is widely unknown in Greece, considering that apart from the Hellenistic sites, the country also possesses many Byzantine monuments, including a complete Byzantine city, countless shrines with exquisite mosaics, areas that are referred to in the Holy Scriptures. Furthermore, there are 300,000 people of Greek-Orthodox faith in Jordan (Rum Orthodox), who feel a kinship to Greeks.
Wonderful sites are never-ending in Jordan. Visitors can visit the Dead Sea, the lowest point of Earth (400 m below the sea's surface). In the nearby Qumran Caves, the Dead Sea Scrolls and the coins of Herod the Great were found.
Jordan also has very exotic features that are exciting to all visitors, such as the purplish rocks in Petra and the desert, the Bedouin and their camels, the caravans, the desert police and their beautiful thoroughbred horses, the Beau Geste station, where the famous movie was filmed and the Azrak Fortress, where the filming of "Lawrence of Arabia" began.

We continue to Palmyra which during the Greek Era was called the City of the Palms. We will tour the ancient sites, the Temple of Baal, the Ancient Theater, the Agora, the Senate and the impressive 1,000 meter Colonnaded Street. We will visit the Sea Castle, which was constructed during the Crusades. We finish our tour of Sidon with a visit to the Soap Museum. We arrive in Tyre, a city that is mentioned in the Holy Scriptures. Tyre was under siege by Nebuchadnezzar for 13 years, while Alexander the Great conquered the city after 7 months of siege. Today, Tyre retains many of its archaeological monuments from its rich history. On one of its sides, we will visit its Roman, stone-paved town and on its other side we will visit its three-bay monumental arch that dates back to the First Christian Era and its well-preserved Roman Stadium and Hippodrome. Due to these marvellous sites, Unesco has included Tyre in its World Heritage List. Our last stop is Esmun. Tour of the area and dinner in a luxurious restaurant. Tuesday Beirut-Baalbek-Ksara-Ansar-Beirut
Breakfast and departure at 8:00 for Baalbek, the "City of the Gods", one of the most significant archaeological monuments in the world. It was originally a Phoenician city, although its glory was truly recognized when it was conquered by Alexander the Great, who elevated Baalbek to a Heliopolis. The Temples of Baalbek are separated into three major places of worship. The first, dedicated to Zeus, is the largest in size, but has retained the least of its original features. The second, dedicated to Bacchus, is the miracle of miracles. The temple still retains its original form, including a grand staircase that leads to its entrance, decorated with fairies and mythological gods. The third, located at a short distance from the other two, is dedicated to Aphrodite. The temple is round and is considered a jewel of Roman architecture. Due to its great archaeological significance, Unesco has included Baalbek in its World Heritage List. We continue our tour in Ksara and we will finish touring for the day with a visit in Ansar, the "City of the Umayyad". The ruins of this ancient town, which are scattered around the Baalbek Shrine, are the remains from the time of the Umayyad, who ruled the area in the 7th and 8th centuries. The city was discovered in 1943, buried in the swamps, among grass and stones. Unesco has also included Ansar in its World Heritage List. Dinner at luxury restaurant. Return to the hotel for overnight stay.
Wednesday Beirut-Byblos-Jeita-Harissa
After breakfast, we begin our tour at 8:00, with a visit to Byblos, set along the coast, where ruins of an Amorian town are situated around an Acropolis, a Phoenician Temple and a Roman Amphitheater that overlook the Phoenician Royal Necropolis. Unesco has put Byblos on its World Heritage List, owing to its different monuments which show the various cultures that conquered the area throughout history. We continue our tour with a visit at Jeita where you will admire the wonderful caverns with stalagmites and stalactites of exquisite beauty. Our last stop is Harissa. Lunch break at luxury restaurant during the tour. Return to the hotel for overnight stay.

The first, dedicated to Zeus, is the largest in size but has retained the least of its original features. The ruins of this ancient town, which are scattered around the Baalbek Shrine, are the remains from the time of the Umayyad, who ruled the area in the 7th and 8th century. The city was discovered in 1943, buried in the swamps, among grass and stones. Unesco has also included Ansar in its World Heritage List. Dinner at luxury restaurant. Return to the hotel for overnight stay.
