Dubai - Muscat
After breakfast, we depart by bus for Muscat. Arrival and tour of the city, visiting the Muslim Shrine, the Museum of Natural History and the National Museum. Our next stop is the Al Alam Palace, which was the royal residence of the Sultan Qaboos, and then the forts of Mirani and Jalali, which were built in the 16th century. We end the day’s tour with a visit to the Acropolis and the old city of Muscat. Return to hotel for dinner and overnight stay.
After breakfast, we start on a panoramic tour of Nizwa. Built in a valley with a thousand date trees, Nizwa was the base of the Omani Imami, who competed with the Sultan for control of the country. Upon our arrival, we will see an astonishing setting: tall mountains that protect the mystical city with a fortress, which is considered the most magnificent in all Oman. From Bahla, we continue our journey for 8 more kilometers to reach yet another fortress called Jabrin, which dates back to the 17th century. No other fortress in Oman has the impressive size of Jabrin, as it is made of plaster with wood carvings. Its colors are also spectacular. Return to Nizwa, where we will tour the village and visit the souks with their many shops selling gold and silver. Return to hotel for dinner and overnight stay.
Oman - Bahrain
Flight to Bahrain. Arrival and transfer to hotel. Once we have settled in, we set off on our tour of the city of Bahrain. We will explore the city and have the opportunity to admire the large Al Fateh Mosque, the Islamic Fortress - which dates back to the 3rd millennium BC and which is now in ruins -, the house of Al Jasra - which was built in 1907 and renovated in 1986 -, the crafts center, and the home of Sheik Isa in the old town of Muharrak. As 95% of the residents of Bali are Hindu, it sets itself apart from the rest of Muslim Indonesia. Known as the ‘island of the gods’, this gem of the Indonesian Archipelago has more than 100,000 temples throughout the island. The Balinese are a very friendly people, offering a smile to all the island’s visitors. The love poetry, dance, theater and music and have a knack for handicrafts (woodcarving, silvercrafting, painting). Art and religion are closely connected in Bali, as the mystifying merges with the mysterious and the magical. It is a tropical paradise, with beautiful contrasting scenery, such as endless beaches with palm trees, golden sand and turquoise waters, as well as high mountains, volcanoes, tropical vegetation, rice fields, traditional villages and temples, all of which combine to offer visitors the real image of Bali. The rest of the day is at your leisure to get a first ‘taste’ of the island.
Bali - Tour and Visit to the Kintamani Volcano
Day trip to the inland of the island. On our way to the Kintamani Volcano, we will pass through exotic countryside, among rice fields and palm tree forests. We will visit the villages of Cheluk, Mas and Ubud, which are famous for their folk art. Upon arrival at Kintamani, we head to Lake Batur, an old volcano crater where the Bali-aga tribe lives. Members of the tribe are adamant on keeping many of the most ancient traditions and customs alive. Return to our hotel.
